Fairlawn Retirement Community, located on 407 E. Lutz Road in Archbold, Ohio, just 45 miles west of Toledo, offers a full continuum of care within an active continuing care retirement community (CCRC). Serving residents since 1964, Fairlawn is home to over 400 seniors.
Our Independent Living duplexes and apartments provide residents with a maintenance-free lifestyle in a friendly, safe neighborhood. If assistance is needed, Fairlawn Haven Care Center and Assisted Living are available to provide support.

Fairlawn offers a full continuum of care with roots that run deep in connection, purpose, compassion, and unity. Our community opened in 1964 through the vision and generous support of 11 area Mennonite churches. Under the guidance of a board of trustees, Fairlawn continues to thrive and serve our region.

How much does it cost to live in Independent Living at Fairlawn?
Fairlawn offers both life-lease and rental options on our independent living campus. There is no entry fee. Our continuous care community is organized so that you pay only for the services you need. Fairlawn has over 150 homes and apartments on our campus. We also offer an additional 49 affordable housing apartments through a program sponsored by the USDA.
Does Fairlawn accept Medicaid?
Yes, Fairlawn is accredited by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and licensed through the Ohio Department of Health. Does Fairlawn offer affordable housing for seniors and individuals living with a disability?
Yes, Fairlawn offers 49 apartments featuring one or two bedrooms. Residency is available to individuals who are 62 years of age or older and individuals living with a disability, regardless of age. Resident eligibility is determined from an application that meets the USDA Standard Procedure for income occupancy. Find an application and more information here >>
Can I volunteer at Fairlawn?
Yes! We are seeking volunteers to help with a wide range of activities, events, and projects. Examples include resident companions, entrance greeters, seasonal decoration set-up and tear-down, letter writers, yard clean-up, gardening maintenance, window washing, and more.
